During 2019 and 2020, The Music Pool transferred to become part of the Encore family and is registered as a legal Subsidiary. All previous Music Pool projects are now delivered by Encore. Remaining a Registered Charity, we will continue to raise funds from a variety of sources, and will commission music work in the community, mainly through Encore.

The Music Pool was originally founded in 1988, as Hereford Arts in Action Ltd., and took on the operating name 'The Music Pool' in 1998, as the community music charity for Herefordshire and its borders.

We've operated and enabled a variety of music activities, some also involving related arts, such as drama, dance and writing. Our work has taken place in many different settings.

In 2010, The Music Pool received The Elgar In Hereford Award, in recognition of our contribution to the musical life of the county.

The majority of the work has fallen under the following areas: Early Years, Schools, Children and Young People, Adults, Older and Retired People, Special Needs and Disability and Special Events.
