Special Needs & Disability Activities

Summary of our work with Special Needs and Disability groups & schools

The Music Pool, play and work creatively with children, young people and adults in special education: in special schools,  Pupil Referral Units, for students with Educational and Behavioural Difficulties, adults with a range of physical and learning disabilities.
We recognise that Music, song and other related arts can work as therapy and be an outlet for otherwise frustrated emotional expression.

Over the last decade, we have worked regularly with Herefordshire's special needs schools, providing a range of appropriate, interactive workshops as a fun, stimulating outlet for their pupils, teachers and carers.

Our work also includes a successful, biennial integrated dance project 'JIGSAW', in partnership with Dancefest, which gives performance opportunities for independent and school groups of children and young adults.

We have, and continue to, run YAM JAMS, a successful weekly music making session, in partnership with ECHO Herefordshire, for adults with varying special needs.  Click here to read more about YAMJAMS.
