The Music Pool's Youth Work
The Music Pool is involved in many activities for young people across Herefordshire and beyond:

The Voice Squad - this singing group for 11 to 18-year-olds was set up in 2002 and is going strong, with regular practice sessions and performances. For more details, call Squad Leaders Neil Pigott (07796 140394) or Alison Houlbrooke (07989 053925) or contact us.

Building Bands - we've been working with young rock bands in Herefordshire and Shropshire. Our all-day clinics give bands the chance to learn from established locally-based pros. We've also put on gigs for young bands to get a chance to play live, and have been running professional advice and consultation sessions for the most promising acts. Contact us to find out what's happening.

Hip-Hop & Rap - we regularly run sessions with Dubmerge, the locally-based hip-hop & rap collective. Rap lyric writing, rapping, scratch DJ-ing and bass playing can feature. Now, thanks to partnerships with Herefordshire Youth Service, BODS and the Rural Media Company, multi-media work and video-making are in there too.

Composing and Songwriting - professional composers Andrew Morris, John Hymas and Pete Thorogood lead regular Super-sonics groups in Leominster, Hunderton and St Martins, exploring new sounds and possibilities, leading to performances.
The Orcop Orchestra - was set up to give young people in an isolated rural part of Herefordshire the chance to play music together. It meets regularly, and has commissioned new music especially for it!
Traveller Music - various music sessions with young members of the Traveller communities, mainly in north Herefordshire.

These have included Herefordshire Council's Community Youth Service, Connexions, the Rural Media Company, the Herefordshire Primary Care NHS Trust, and the voluntary youth services, including BODS at Close House.

Funding for The Music Pool's youth work comes from several sources, including:
