Dean completes six-day sponsored walk

13th April 2015

The Dean of Hereford, The Very Rev Michael Tavinor completes his sponsored walk in aid of Three Choirs Festival and The Music Pool

The Dean began his sponsored walk from Hereford Cathedral on Monday 6th April, on a 90+mile route which took him via Gloucester and Worcester Cathedrals before making his way back to Hereford on Saturday 11th April.

Thankfully he had great weather to keep him company, along with various friends who joined him on some of his journeys, including our very own Dennis Schiavon, who walked with The Dean on day 5 of 6 for part of his journey from Worcester Cathedral to Bromyard.

He has so far raised almost 2,000 of his 3,000 target, which will be shared between Three Choirs Festival and The Music Pool.  The Dean said he wanted to raise money for the Three choirs Festival, which is this year celebrating its 300th anniversary, as staging the event is becoming increasingly costly.  "Concerts are, of course, sponsored by groups and organisations, but I do feel that there is room for invidual donationas, large or small, thus supplementing the excellent work undertaken by the Friends of the Festival," he said.

"The charitable cause I've chosen is, again, The Music Pool, Herefordshire's music charity, which works to enhance the lives and communities of the county's people," he added: "The charity has had its funds cut in recent years, so a donation to them at this time will, I know, be especially welcome."

Anyone wishing to donate can do so by emailing or by calling 01432 374200.
