The Staff of The Music Pool

Rob Strawson (Artistic Director) has worked for many years as a performer, songwriter, teacher, promoter and workshop leader with people of all ages and abilities.

He has a strong commitment to music as an essential, not peripheral, part of the everyday lives of everybody in the community.





Dennis Schiavon (Administrator) has had several years' varied experience in local government in Herefordshire, and holds the AAT qualification in public sector finance.

He is also a freelance musician, singer, songwriter and actor, having gained a BA actor/musician degree at Rose Bruford College, and has toured, recorded and broadcast extensively.




Mina N Payne (General Assistant) is active in several areas of the arts, in performing, stage management and administration, in addition to her work with The Music Pool.

She has a performing arts degree from the Herefordshire College of Arts, was a leading member of 4Play Theatre Company, and also helps to run ZOO Venues at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.




Nicky Jaques (Youth Music Project Manager) grew up in Herefordshire then studied for a music degree at Nottingham University and a graduate diploma at Birmingham Conservatoire.  She has experience teaching music privately, in school and as a youth worker.  She has also worked for several different local charities.

Alongside her work at The Music Pool, Nicky works as a freelance musician and a yoga teacher.  She mostly writes and performs her own original music.
